After advancing from Group A - which included Mali, Comoros and Zambia - with seven points from a possible nine, the Atlas Lions have emerged past Tanzania, Cameroon and now Nigeria to reach the competition's showpiece.
El Khannouss started at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Wednesday, playing 84 minutes, with former Foxes Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey involved for Nigeria.
Although it ended goalless in Rabat, a penalty shootout eventually separated the two sides, with Morocco coming out on top by four goals to two.
This now tees up Sunday's final, against Senegal, with Morocco aiming for a first AFCON title since 1976.
