Asmir Begovic hosts specialist goalkeeping camp at LCFC Training Ground during February half-term
The camp was held in partnership between AB1 Academy and Leicester City in the Community
The session was attended by more than 60 children in Seagrave
Held at LCFC Training Ground, the camp provided a unique opportunity for children to learn from one of the game’s most experienced goalkeepers, with sessions designed to develop key skills in a fun, supportive environment.
The camp focused on the fundamentals of the position, including handling, footwork, positioning and distribution, with each young goalkeeper taking part in structured drills and small-sided games, receiving expert guidance from Begovic and fellow City shot stopper Jakub Stolarczyk.
Begovic, who runs his own specialist goalkeeping academy, was hands-on throughout the camp, offering advice, encouragement and insight from his professional career.
He said: “It was brilliant to see so many young goalkeepers come along during half-term and enjoy themselves. That’s the main thing we want from these sessions.
“Half-term camps like this are all about learning new skills, building confidence and having fun. Goalkeeping is a unique position so it’s important that young players get specialist coaching in a positive environment.”
The partnership with Leicester City in the Community ensured participants benefited from high-quality coaching in a setting designed to help them grow in confidence and ability.
Parents and guardians also had the opportunity to see the progress made across the camp in Seagrave as players showcased their skills in match-based scenarios at the end of the programme.
Our charitable arm continues to provide opportunities for young people across the region to stay active, develop their abilities and create lasting memories through football.
