A much-needed triumph at Carrow Road, coming late on courtesy of Jordan James’ injury-time winner, saw us end a run of five league games without a win prior to the international break, with Stoke City up next at King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off). In the midst of preparations for the visit of Mark Robins’ side, Begovic sat down with CITY to discuss the boost felt within the squad following that victory in Norfolk and why it is now important to push on in the coming games, starting against the Potters.
“I think everyone was really, really pleased – a little bit of relief as well,” the Bosnian admitted. “It has been a long time coming which we’re probably not used to or expected but that’s the way it goes sometimes. The timing of the win, the manner of the win – it felt good for everyone.
“We’ve not been far away. I think there has been fine margins and moments in games that have gone against us and we haven’t quite made the most of those moments when we’ve been in the ascendency.
“Those fine margins make a big difference and for a little while it didn’t go our way but obviously against Norwich they did and hopefully that’s a bit of a turning point for us. We’ll try to use that momentum in our next few games ahead of a busy period.”
With Begovic potentially in line to make his full home debut, the experienced former Chelsea and Everton 'keeper also reflected on the opportunity to come in between the sticks across the last two games and make his Leicester bow.
“It has been good,” the 38-year-old added. “It was unexpected but these things happen over the course of the season, so it has been nice to be back in. Obviously, I’ve enjoyed my time out there on the pitch, which is what we love doing.”
