  • We lost 1-0 to Portsmouth at the weekend to remain 23rd in the table
  • Asmir Begovic gave his account of a difficult afternoon at Fratton Park
  • Our next Sky Bet Championship fixture comes against Hull City on Tuesday
  • The goalkeeper also looked towards that home clash with the Tigers
The Foxes were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Fratton Park on Saturday, courtesy of Ibane Bowat’s goal, which, coupled with results elsewhere, has left us eight points adrift of Sky Bet Championship safety with nine still to play for.
“It’s a feeling of frustration for everyone,” the goalkeeper expressed following full-time. “We’ve had quite a few games now where it’s definitely been a recent theme of ours. We were very much in the game, very worthy of a result, even a win, but those fine margins are going against us at the moment.
“Pompey, like a lot of teams like to do, cause chaos from set plays. A very carnage situation in the box and obviously the fortune was on their side again. He’s mishit the header and it’s gone in.

“I wasn’t far from saving it but that’s the way it is. That’s how it’s gone for us recently but that’s the reality of the situation. We’ve got to take it on the chin and pick ourselves up again.”
The Tigers are the visitors to King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening, a 7:45pm BST kick-off, with nothing less than a win enough for the Foxes, who are straight back in action three days on from defeat on the south coast.
“It’s not easy but I think sometimes the best thing is a game again,” the Bosnian added. “We can’t dwell on it and think about it too much. We’ve got to turn a page.
“We need a little bit of luck to go our way from others around us but all we can control is our approach and togetherness and hopefully it turns for us on Tuesday.
“You’d like to think if we keep putting ourselves in that position then one is going to break for us. It hasn’t for a couple of games now which is frustrating. That’s all we can keep doing – the right things and pushing.

“We know it’s not mathematically over. All we need is that one win. If we get that, it can boost a lot of morale, just confidence in the team again and a little bit more belief. We’re going to try and get that on Tuesday.
“Obviously, we’re in for a massive challenge on Tuesday night against Hull. They’re a good side so we have to give it a massive go, a big push, give it our everything and see where it takes us.”
There was another sold out away end at Fratton Park over the weekend and Begovic paid tribute to those who made the trip down, aiming to provide the supporters with much more come Tuesday evening.
“The fans have been great; their backing has been great,” the 38-year-old added. “They’ve travelled in huge numbers all season and we thank them for that and have always been good to us at home.
“Of course, they are as frustrated as we are. There’s no getting away from that and rightly so. We want to try and change it and give them a win on Tuesday and see where we are then.”
