Bobby De Cordova-Reid previews Tuesday’s home test against Wrexham AFC (7:45pm kick-off)
The former Fulham forward played a big role in our 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, after coming off the bench
De Cordova-Reid says we must focus on ourselves against the Red Dragons
He’s also confident that we can turn draws into wins after three in a row
We welcome Phil Parkinson’s Red Dragons to King Power Stadium for a 7:45pm kick-off – our first encounter with the Welsh outfit since 1982.
De Cordova-Reid, whose added-time strike deflected off Nat Phillips to seal a 1-1 draw at West Brom last weekend, is eager to turn draws into wins after three in a row.
Speaking first on Wrexham’s three consecutive promotions, the former Fulham forward said: “It’s good for them, but first and foremost, we focus on ourselves.
“We’re looking for the three points, especially at home. After coming off three draws, it’s a big game for us, and we’ll just focus on ourselves to get three points.
“We know that we’re a good team first and foremost. We don’t necessarily worry about the opposition as much. We understand that they’re in a place where they want to build this season. We’ve got to show that we’re a Premier League club on Tuesday.
“I know they’ve got a good squad, a good chemistry having got promoted, but listen, we’ve got to concentrate on ourselves and take the three points.”
Later reflecting on that West Brom draw and the need to start sealing wins, he added: “We started off the game really well with good football, without creating big, big chances.
“That’s something we can obviously work on but I’m looking forward to the Tuesday night game under the lights with our fans. Hopefully we’ll put on a good show. I think there’s always room for more improvement.
“There’s things we can obviously get better at and there’s things that we’re doing well at the moment. We’ve got to continue to do that and hopefully piece it all together.”
