  • Ninety minutes of action for Tom Cannon in Stoke City’s draw with Plymouth
  • Brandon Cover could feature in midweek for Port Vale in the EFL Trophy
  • Sammy Braybrooke (Dundee) and Brad Young (Hartlepool) were unused subs
Tom Cannon played throughout Stoke City’s goalless draw with Plymouth Argyle in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend, in what was Mark Robins’ first game in charge of the club.
It leaves the Potters 19th in the standings ahead of turning attention to the Emirates FA Cup Third Round on Saturday, travelling to face Sunderland at Stadium of Light (3pm kick-off).
Moving into Sky Bet League 2, Brandon Cover did not play for fifth-place Port Vale at the weekend but may be in contention for the EFL Trophy last-16 clash with Wrexham tonight (Tuesday), hosting the Red Dragons at Vale Park in a 7pm kick-off.
After playing the final 23 minutes of AFC Barrow’s 3-0 defeat to Salford City on Boxing Day, Chris Popov is yet to feature again for the Bluebirds, who are the Valiants’ next league opponents on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Sammy Braybrooke was an unused substitute in Dundee’s 3-1 victory over St. Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday, lifting the Dee up to eighth place. The England youth midfielder’s next opportunity to feature in the Scottish Premiership comes this Wednesday evening, taking on Rangers (8pm kick-off).
Goalkeeper Brad Young also remained on the bench for Hartlepool United on New Year’s Day, as they claimed a 2-1 home triumph over Oldham Athletic at Victoria Park. The ninth-placed Pools meet Barnet in the Vanarama National League on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
