We take on Cheltenham Town in Gloucestershire in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round
Saturday’s 12:15pm kick-off sees Sky Bet Championship Leicester City head to Sky Bet League 2 outfit Cheltenham
Ben Nelson sees the tie as an opportunity to build on Monday’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion

It’s a 12:15pm kick-off at The EV Charger Points Stadium, coming off the back of a last-ditch 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at King Power Stadium on Monday. Our form has been inconsistent with a spell of seven points from a possible nine being followed by successive defeats. The win over Derby County helped matters, but was then followed by a loss at Sheffield United.
It’s that form which Nelson hopes to improve over the coming weeks, as an encounter with Sky Bet League 2 opposition offers a different sort of challenge this weekend. “I’ve always looked up to the competition from watching it throughout my youth, hoping to play in it one day,” the Academy graduate said this week.
“There’s so many opportunities to create momentum in the cup. It’s different from the league and it’s another way to build momentum and build the resilience of the team. It’s a really good opportunity for us to get a string of results together.
“(When Leicester won the FA Cup in 2021), I was in and around training with the team and you see the results on the pitch, the run they went on, and it just pushes you forward. It makes you want to strive to be in that team and do that one day. It’s always something you push for.”
Evaluating our fortunes over the past month, Nelson admits there is room for improvement, saying everyone is working towards creating greater consistency.
“We feel like we could have done better in some games and that’s always going to be the case when you’re dropping points,” he added. “We feel like we should be winning the games, but we need build that consistency and go on a run.
“That’s what we need to do now. It’s great to be playing. Having to bide my time at the start of the season, it was a tough test and it only made me stronger and more eager to get into the team and keep my place, performing to the highest level that I can.”
