Defender Christian McFarlane joins Leicester City on loan from Manchester City
The 19-year-old left-back will spend the 26/27 season at King Power Stadium
England youth international previously progressed through New York City FC’s pathway
The 19-year-old left-back will link up with Russell Martin’s squad ahead of the 26/27 campaign, adding further quality and depth to our defensive options.
Speaking to LCFC.com. he said: “I'm excited and feel ready for the challenge. I’m ready to step into the men’s game and to get started. Being here is an opportunity for me to develop more as a player – mentally and physically - and to take my game to the next level.
“As a player, I’m intense and aggressive at both ends – attacking and defending. I like to make runs in behind and can be a bit of a nuisance for the opposition. The way [the manager] wants to play suits me perfectly, so I’m excited to get started.”
An England youth international, McFarlane joined Manchester City from New York City FC in January 2025, having progressed through the MLS club’s academy setup and made his senior debut in 2024.
Born in England and raised in New York, he developed through the City Football Group pathway before making the move to Manchester, where he has continued his progress within Manchester City’s Academy.
McFarlane will now join his new team-mates ahead of our final pre-season fixture against Serie A side Genoa at King Power Stadium on Saturday 1 August (7:30pm kick-off)
