The new format of the competition sees Premier League 2 sides compete against non-league opposition away from home, and the young Foxes began the campaign with a loss against the fifth-tier league leaders.

The Essex-based outfit took the lead at the Rare Breed Meat Company Stadium just over 30 minutes in when Lewis Walker won possession, setting up Chay Cooper, who sent an unstoppable drive into the corner from all of 25 yards out.

We reached the hour-mark with no further goals, but there would soon be a second for Town; Fletcher Hubbard's first-time finish from Jacob Pinnington's cross doubling the advantage and ensuring three Group B points for the hosts.

It's Wealdstone next up in the group stage for the Foxes youngsters on Tuesday 16 September, with Forest Green Rovers to play a month later, but before then our new Premier League 2 campaign starts against Liverpool next Monday - a 7pm BST kick-off at LCFC Training Ground.
