The Foxes climbed out of the bottom three courtesy of a comeback away win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Jamie Vardy cancelling out Richarlison’s opener shortly after the break, prior to El Khannouss finding the second to claim a precious three points in the fight for safety. Ending a seven-game losing streak in the Premier League, the attacking midfielder is hopeful that this can lead to further successes in the weeks to come.
“Of course, it was an amazing win today,” the Moroccan reflected following full-time in north London. “We fought hard together to get this because, from minute one, we knew we could take something here.
“I think it has been a really tough few weeks for us in the last games and we lost seven in a row. It was really difficult, but we fought as a team and deserved this. It was not comfortable but sometimes you have to suffer and in those times you have to do it all together.
“That’s what we did and we’re really happy with the win today. It’s a really important three points because we are out of the relegation zone, but the season is still long and we have to be where we want to be in May. Then we will see, but we’ll take it game by game.
“We have to show character in such situations because we’re not in the best situation, but we have to show that we are one team and that we all work together. That’s what we showed today and that’s a positive to take into the next games.”
Displaying his undoubted technical ability throughout the game, it was for the winning goal which the 20-year-old's quality really shone through, driving through the middle and providing a pinpoint finish into the bottom corner, sparking jubilant celebrations in front of the Foxes faithful.
He continued: “It’s a few weeks since the Manager came in and we have been working after training on some finishing drills and I’m really happy that it went in today. I went straight to our fans because it is not only tough times for us but for them, because they know what this Club is. “We really want to give them a win every week, but sometimes it’s really difficult. I wanted to thank them because today it really felt like we were one big group – the fans, the players, the staff and everyone together. I think that’s why we took the three points.”
