The players have contributed significantly to the success of our Academy teams in recent seasons, and their professional contracts represent the next stage of their footballing journeys as they continue their improvement through our pathway.
Midfielder Lawrence, 17, who hails from Kibworth, joined us as an Under-9 and was part of our Under-16s team who lifted the Premier League Cup, while attacking midfielder Kosiorek, 17, who is also from Leicester, has represented Poland at Under-16s level.
Striker Otchere and goalkeeper Donohue, both 18, have been with us since Under-9s and Under-11s respectively, with Northern Ireland Under-17s international Donnelly, 18, signing from Dungannon Swifts at the end of his Under-16s year.
Also signing professional terms is right-sided winger Fiskin, 19, who has been in the Academy ranks since Under-9s level, the same as 18-year-old Humberston-born defender Gray, who has also signed with the Club. Meanwhile 17-year-old striker Hutchinson, who has been in the Academy since leaving Notts County at Under-13s level, has now agreed professional terms.
Joining them is 18-year-old Khela, who moved from Birmingham City as an Under-14. He is a left-sided defender and part of the Asian Inclusion Mentor Scheme (AIMS), which supports young Asian players, while midfielder Alkobire and winger Omobolaji, both 18,teamed up with us as Under-17s from Arsenal and Crystal Palace respectively.
In addition to the exciting first year pros, we’re also pleased to welcome 17-year-old Riley Carr to the squad this season. The winger joins from non-league side Hertford Town and has gone into the Development Squad group for the new campaign.
Finally, Jamaica international midfielder Brandon Cover, 21, has now signed his second professional contract with us. The Academy graduate, who is from Wigston and been with us since Under-9s level, has gained some valuable experience on loan with Port Vale and Fleetwood Town in recent seasons and made his First Team debut against Birmingham City in the FA Cup last year.
Our Academy’s continued success in producing young talent is a source of pride for everyone associated with the Football Club, with the likes of Harvey Barnes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Ben Chilwell, Hamza Choudhury, Luke Thomas, Kasey McAteer, Ben Nelson, Will Alves, Jakub Stolarczyk and Daniel Iversen all among those featuring for the first team over recent years.
