Everyone’s Game will tell the story of the people who have helped shape football in Leicester – from pioneering players who broke new ground and changed representation at the Club, to the grassroots teams and local people inspiring the next generation.
Ahead of the fixture, we will celebrate our past by telling the stories of Leicester City’s Pioneering XI, recognising former players whose journeys helped change representation at the Football Club.
The campaign will also look at the game in Leicester today, shining a light on grassroots clubs, community groups and the people who dedicate their time to making football happen across the city.
Leicester City in the Community will showcase some of its ongoing work in the city, including its Active Women programme, which engages women from African, Caribbean and South Asian communities and will use the occasion to promote women’s health and the importance of regular health checks during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
LCitC’s Football Welcomes programme will also feature as part of the fixture, highlighting its work supporting refugees and people seeking asylum through regular football activity. Plans also include a football boot and kit donation drive, giving City supporters an opportunity to directly support people involved in the programme.
Our Fan Zone will be open from 12pm until 2:30pm ahead of kick-off, with a programme of live entertainment celebrating our communities and cultures.
Performances will include Emmanu’-EL Apostolic Gospel Academy, the Leicester-based winners of the BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year 2023, alongside Steel Pan Power, bringing Caribbean steel pan music including Calypso, Reggae and Soca to King Power Stadium.
Supporters will also be able to enjoy a specially selected food offering, with Chilli Guys serving Asian-inspired street food with halal options and Jerk ‘N’ Rum offering Afro-Caribbean street food cooked using traditional jerk-style methods.
Supporters will also be able to take advantage of a special matchday offer, with a pie or hot dog and a pint available for £11.50.
Football belongs to everyone. We all have a part to play in keeping it that way.
