From the beloved classics of Filbert Street to the sleek modern designs of the King Power Stadium era, each jersey tells a tale. Celebrating the evolution of our visual identity, we’ll explore the design, history, and unforgettable moments woven into the fabric of each shirt.
This shirt made its debut on 10 August 2001 for a pre-season visit of AS Fiorentina. On that occasion, we wore this white shirt with blue trimmings instead of a traditional blue home strip. It marked the first time this kit was worn, though its design was very similar to the previous white away shirt, which featured the Walkers Crisps logo.
For the 2001/02 campaign, however, Walkers’ long-standing sponsorship – visible on various kits over the previous 14 years – was replaced by LG Electronics, a South Korean multinational company based in Seoul. Following its debut in the match against Fiorentina, this white shirt appeared in just three more fixtures.
It was worn with white shorts and blue socks in the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea. Against Aston Villa, in a 2-0 away win, it was paired with blue shorts and white socks. The final appearance came in a 1-0 loss to West Ham United at Upton Park, where it featured alongside blue shorts and blue socks.
The only Leicester players to score while wearing this shirt – aside from Dean Sturridge, who struck a hat-trick against Fiorentina in a thrilling 3-3 draw – were James Scowcroft (pictured) and Ade Akinbiyi.
This kit was only in use for the 2001/02 season, a year that saw City relegated from the Premier League and bid farewell to Filbert Street after 111 years. During the season, the shirt was gradually replaced by a yellow away kit with navy trimmings – a design that would carry over into the following campaign.
Players who featured in this short-lived design in the Premier League included Frank Sinclair, Gary Rowett, Callum Davidson, Matt Elliott, Muzzy Izzet, Robbie Savage, Jordan Stewart, and Matt Jones.
