A brace from Yuka Momiki, either side of a Missy Goodwin strike, finished off with a first senior goal for Nelly Las confirmed our spot in round five of the FA Cup, where we will face Manchester City away on the weekend of 8 February. One month on from a well-earned point against Chelsea, Amandine Miquel made just two changes to the starting line-up that would face the third tier side, as CJ Bott and Goodwin came in for Julie Thibaud and the sidelined Deanne Rose. City showed our top flight advantage early on in Nottingham, taking the lead after 15 minutes through Momiki, who was in the right place at the right time to turn a low cross from Hannah Cain past the Stoke 'keeper. A fourth round fight at Meadow Lane.
The pressure continued from Leicester, with Stoke struggling to get a serious foothold of the ball and test Janina Leitzig in the opposing net, before the hosts doubled their advantage a half-hour in. Saori Takarada's faint touch goalwards was well saved, but perfectly placed into the rushing path of Goodwin, who did enough to bundle the ball across the line. The final chance of the half fell in favour of the visitors, who halved the deficit from 12 yards, as Mille Ravening, who already had 18 goals this term heading into the fixture, beat Leitzig to the bottom left-hand corner.
Into the second half, and Stoke were looking more comfortable, knowing that they weren't far off City, who only lead by a goal. Solid defending from the Potters was keeping them in the game although they weren't able to commit as many numbers forward, sacrificing possession to the Foxes.
Yuka Momiki scored twice against the Potters.
Despite peppering the visitors' box, there were very little chances falling either way, until an inch-perfect free kick from Momiki gave Leicester breathing distance in the match.
Stepping up to the ball just outside the penalty area, the ball curled over the wall and out of reach for the 'keeper, all but ensuring our spot in the Fifth Round.
As time was running out for the Potters, Academy graduate Las confirmed the win with her first goal, rifling in from close range as Leicester await a visit to Man City in early February.
