Sheffield United loanee Hamza Choudhury is preparing for a two-legged play-off semi-final meeting with Bristol City this week, having finished third in the Sky Bet Championship table, on 90 points.

Not featuring in the 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on the final day, the Bangladesh international is likely to be back involved when the Blades head to Ashton Gate tonight (Thursday) for an 8pm kick-off.

Ben Nelson remained an unused substitute as Oxford United ended the Championship campaign with a 3-3 draw away at Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

The centre-back’s stint at Oxford United comes to a close having made a total of 17 league appearances, scoring once, helping the 17th-placed Yellows to remain the second tier for a second season.

Will Alves’ loan spell with Cardiff City ended in a 4-2 reverse at Norwich City, having had their relegation to Sky Bet League 1 confirmed a week earlier.

Currently positioned sixth in the Dutch second tier, a win in their final match of the season against Helmond Sport on Friday night (7pm kick-off) could see Superboeren finish in fifth place.

Back in the Football League, Wales youth international forward Chris Popov returned to the Barrow squad for their season closer against Colchester United, playing the last 10 minutes of the goalless draw at JobServe Community Stadium – his 11th league outing for the Bluebirds, who finished 2024/25 16th in Sky Bet League 2.

Oliver Ewing played 120 minutes as Buxton’s season ended with a quarter-final exit in the Vanarama National League Play-Offs. An extra-time defeat to Chester means the Bucks will remain in the sixth tier next term, with the Foxes midfielder making 19 appearances and scoring three goals during his time at the Derbyshire club.

They will be joined in the division by Worksop Town, who secured promotion via the Northern Premier Division Premier League Play-Offs. Ben Grist played throughout the 2-1 home triumphs over Ashton United and then Guiseley Town in the final.
