The Academy graduate agreed terms on a new deal which was announced on Friday, having broken through into First Team contention this season.

A special moment to continue his association with City, having joined as a 16-year-old four years ago, Joseph now wants to kick on.

Showing patience to wait for his chance to shine, Joseph spent the 25/26 season on loan with Tranmere Rovers in Sky Bet League Two, making a big impression at Prenton Park across 35 appearances, registering six goal involvements.

“I'm so happy to get it done and commit myself to the Club,” the young defender said, sitting down in Seagrave to discuss his news. “I've enjoyed my time here. It's a nice feeling, knowing that the project that we've got to build here, it's going to be a big project.

“Of course, when a club like Leicester are wanting to offer you a new deal, it's hard to turn down. It was always going to be a yes. I’m happy to be a part of it and hopefully one of the main parts.

“It’s nice to feel wanted and seen as a big part of the team. Hopefully I can pay that back and show it on the pitch.”

Assessing his spell away from Leicester, the full-back continued: “I knew had to go out and get experience, and hopefully now it’s paying off. I feel like it has paid off.”

Now stepping up to the third tier, the 20-year-old marked his senior Foxes league debut with a superb goal at Notts County, a moment he feels enhanced his growing confidence on the pitch, hitting the ground running on the opening day of the season.

“It was a big confidence boost for me because it was my first league start for Leicester,” Joseph explained. “To score on my league debut was a great feeling and one that I’ll never forget.

“I’ve loved working under him (Russell Martin); the style of play really suits me. it's not going to go together straight away, but in the next few weeks or however long it takes, it should really come together.

“It’s been really enjoyable, gaining confidence each game that we play. It's been hard work, but we knew it was going to be that. [I’m] just [trying to] keep building on each performance and getting better and better every week.

“Obviously, the Club is not where we want to be, in League One, so hopefully we get as many wins as we can.”

Playing alongside a host of fellow Academy graduates who are paving the same path, it’s a unique group of young talent which is coming together, with several more senior members of the squad to guide them through what has been a tough start to the campaign.

“It makes it a lot more comfortable being around people that I have been around for the past three or four years,” Joseph added. “It's a lot nicer being around the same people.

“Sometimes it might be good to get a new environment, but I think we've got a good mix with the senior players that haven't been around too much and then the younger players. I think it's a good group that we've got.”
