Harry Souttar's Australia have reached the FIFA World Cup Round of 32
The Socceroos finished second in Group D and will face Group G runners-up Egypt
Souttar skippered his nation through a 0-0 draw with Paraguay on Friday morning
The Leicester City centre-back, who only recently returned from a long-term injury, has been virtually ever-present as captain for the Socceroos through this summer's tournament.
It's been a productive group stage, too, for Tony Popovic's side, who progress to the Round of 32. Their place was sealed in the early hours of Friday morning with a 0-0 draw with Paraguay, which also puts the South American side in a strong position for qualification as one of the best-placed third-placed sides.
Souttar played the full 90 at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, which followed an opening 2-0 success over Türkiye and a defeat to co-hosts USA by the same scoreline. Their next opponent in Dallas will be Egypt on Friday.
That match is scheduled for 7pm BST. Make sure to keep checking back to the LCFC App, LCFC.com and @LCFC on social for updates from our representatives at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
