The addition of Finnish youngster Kangasniemi brings another defensive option to the fold for Manager Russell Martin, who our latest signing said was an influence in wanting to make the move to England.

“I’m really excited to be here and for this project,” the 19-year-old stated. “I’m hungry to give my all for this Club. I’m looking forward to getting started and after speaking with the coach, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

“He’s done a brilliant job with young players before so I knew it would be the right place for me. I will always try to give my all for the Club and these fans as well.”

Growing up in Seinäjoki, Finland, the towering individual has experience playing in Europe, having been part of Inter Milan’s academy prior to returning to his homeland.

Going on to say how this next step of his career brings the biggest challenge he has faced, Kangasniemi wants nothing more than to represent this badge with pride and give his all for his new fanbase.

“I learned a lot (playing in Italy),” the Finnish defender continued. “Outside of football, I grew up and I gained experience as a defender too.

“This league is much harder than the Finnish league, but I have a couple of European games under my belt, so I think that will be good preparation also.

“I’m super excited to get going. This season, I want to play and help the Club, and give 100 per cent of me every time I’m on the pitch.”
