Boxing Day saw Leicester lose out to the Premier League leaders but were first to get on the scoresheet, when Ayew netted his 50th goal in English club football, latching on to the end of Stephy Mavididi's ball into the box.
Proud of the fight displayed from the Foxes on a tough night under the lights, Ayew believes if they stay positive and focus on the task at hand, they will find themselves getting back to winning ways.
"In the first half, we did well but we were unlucky to concede right before half-time," the forward stated. "We fought and defended really well, now we just need to keep going like this with the same fighting spirit and we'll be fine.
Netting at Anfield.
Netting at Anfield.
"It's always nice and it's especially good to score at Anfield. The most important thing for me was to help the team; we tried our best but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be but we know we gave our all and had good phases so we need to stay positive.
"The fans were good today and now more than ever we need them with us, so we'll keep giving our all and we'll see where we are in May.
"It's difficult to concede right before the break. Sometimes we need to make better decisions as a team but overall I'm proud of the boys and the character they showed."
With a lot of football still be played this campaign, Ayew wasn't fazed about Leicester dropping into the bottom three for the first time and was full of praise for young Polish 'keeper Jakub Stolarczyk, who made his Premier League debut.
Keeping to fight going.
Keeping to fight going.
"We need to build on the positives and stay focused to keep pushing because there will be a lot of twists and turns yet," Ayew stated. "Hopefully in May everyone will be smiling.
"Jakub did very well, he was top today. There's not much more I can say. I was a little bit surprised to be fair as Anfield is a hard place to make your Premier League debut.
"We need everyone this season so we need to make sure everyone stays focused."
