Affectionally known as ‘The Boss’, Khun Vichai’s impact on the Football Club and the wider region continues to be felt every day. His tragic passing in a 2018 helicopter crash at King Power Stadium – alongside staff members Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai, and pilots Eric Swaffer and Izabela Lechowicz – brought profound sadness to us all at Leicester City Football Club, our local community and the wider football world.
During his eight years at the helm, Khun Vichai oversaw the most extraordinary chapter in our history. From winning promotion, to the impossible becoming possible, our unforgettable 2016 Premier League title remains a testament to his belief, leadership and vision. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of perhaps the greatest-ever achievement in team sport, when the Foxes defied enormous odds to be crowned champions of England. That success was followed by a memorable run to the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals – further underlining the scale of our rise under his guidance.
Members of the Men's and Women's First Team's were in attendance.

Remembering Khun Vichai is woven into the fabric of our Football Club. Now an annual tradition, this memorial service was a moment not only of reflection, but of gratitude – for everything he gave us and our people. While remembered by many for the glory he brought to Leicester, many will also recall his generosity of spirit, his philanthropic nature and the way he fostered a sense of family at our Football Club. Today, under the stewardship of his son, Chairman Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, we remain dedicated to building on that legacy to shape our path forward.
More than seven years on from his passing, on Saturday, Club staff gathered in the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden at King Power Stadium – a peaceful space created to remember Khun Vichai, Kaveporn, Nusara, Eric and Izabela forever. Senior Club leadership, Men’s Manager Gary Rowett, Women’s Manager Rick Passmoor and members of each First Team squad were among those present, coming together after Friday’s EFL Championship fixture against Preston North End to reflect and pay tribute to Khun Vichai on his birthday. The service embraced Khun Vichai’s Buddhist faith, featuring sacred chanting by monks, while also offering an opportunity for all in attendance to take a moment to remember a man who touched the lives of all who hold Leicester City dear in such a significant way during his Chairmanship.

Happy birthday, Boss. You’re always in our hearts.
Supporters wishing to pay their own respects can visit the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden, located at the south-east corner of King Power Stadium, open during daylight hours. His statue, in the north-west corner, is accessible 24 hours a day, every day, for those looking to pay their personal respects to our former Chairman.
