This initiative is part of The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation's commitment to supporting its four nominated charities during the 2024/25 season, with the first of four dedicated matchdays taking place last month.

Our game on Sunday will celebrate LOROS, who provide free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to more than 2,600 terminally ill adult patients across Leicestershire and Rutland.

Their comprehensive services include inpatient care, home outreach, day therapy, counselling and complementary therapies, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for patients and offering support to their families.

Funds raised on matchday will support the charity’s counselling service, which exists to care for the mental health of patients and their families. It is one of the most accessed and life-changing services and supports people aged 6 to 96.

The counselling provided by LOROS is free of charge and is therefore a crucial area to raise funds for. The service delivers 1,500 appointments each year, with 400 of those attended by children and young people.

Leicester City Chief Executive Susan Whelan said: “LOROS is a lifeline for so many people in our community, providing compassionate care when it is needed most.

“As one of the VS Foundation’s nominated charities this season, we’re proud to use this fixture to highlight the Hospice’s incredible work and the difference they make to families across Leicestershire and Rutland.

“By dedicating this game to LOROS, we hope to raise awareness and inspire more people to get behind a charity that provides such essential care and comfort to those facing the toughest of challenges."

Founded in 1977, we have a proud history of supporting LOROS, recognising the vital role the Hospice plays in our local community.

From previous fundraising initiatives to ongoing activities, we’ve continuously championed LOROS and their mission of providing comfort and dignity to patients and their loved ones.

LOROS Chief Executive Rob Parkinson said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Leicester City for this opportunity to reach out to their brilliant fans. We’ve been here for people across the county for 40 years, caring for them and their families during difficult times and touching the lives of thousands.

“Leicester City have been with us on our journey from the very beginning – Birch was there when we first opened our doors. Now we’re asking for your support to help us be here for another 40. Please donate whatever you can.”

Volunteer: Volunteers are an important part of daily life at LOROS. The Hospice relies on a team of around 1,300 volunteers who give up their time to help with a wide range of tasks.

The Hospice has a variety of rewarding volunteer roles available in their shops, lottery department and at events. If you can offer some time, whether weekly, fortnightly or monthly, they would love to hear from you.
