Frustrated to let the game get away, van Egmond spoke after the full-time whistle at AMEX Stadium, admitting that not capitalising on a bright start came back to haunt the travelling Foxes.
“The first 25 minutes, we started pretty brightly, but we conceded and that was tough to take,” the midfielder said.
“Early in the second half we conceded again, and we did well to get ourselves back in the game but unfortunately, we weren’t able to stay in it over the full 90.

“We’ve got to start putting our chances away. We’ve been talking about that in training, and we know we need to be more clinical.
“To come here and lose 4-1 is disappointing but the team will get our heads down, work hard, to make sure we come back stronger in the future.”
Still in the early stages of a new era at Leicester City, under new management, but also new surroundings for van Egmond since her move from Birmingham City, the Matilda understands that the wrongs must be corrected.
“It does take time (to gel as a team), but this is a results-based game, and we need to make sure we’re putting in good performances to get as many points as we can,” she continued.
“We’ve had some good performances and good moments in games, but we need to put it all together now to get the result.”

Joining this summer, the 32-year-old has added valuable experience in the midfield, and said she is enjoying her time in the East Midlands.
But focusing on the football, she wants to start getting points on the board, also commending the fans for the input they have.
Van Egmond added: “I’m loving my time at Leicester so far, the girls have been great and I’m enjoying my time in the WSL, but we need to look forward after having a disappointing result today.
“The fans are like a 12th player for us, so every single person that comes down to support us, both home and away, is amazing and it helps us on the field.
“We’re lucky to have them and we just want to start giving them something back.”
