The right-back assessed recent form and the backing from the Blue Army
The run of games against the best the Barclays Women’s Super League has to offer continues this Sunday afternoon (3pm BST kick-off), when we take on the Citizens. One player ready for the challenge and hoping to see a more positive outcome than last week’s defeat in the capital is full-back Bott.
In an exclusive interview with CITY, the New Zealander spoke about this season and the fans' influence on the team, with the full write-up available in Sunday’s matchday programme.
Bott has made 16 appearances in the WSL this season.
“Arsenal are a very good opposition, and they outplayed us in many ways so it was disappointing for us coming out of that game because we had some goals in mind and had a game plan that didn’t quite go to plan,” the defender explained.
“But I think that is probably the lesson in itself that we probably just need to be better adapting to what the opposition are giving us.”
Looking ahead to facing the league’s fourth-placed team, with confirmation of survival a possibility on Sunday afternoon, Bott is hoping to take the lessons from defeat into this one.
“They’ve [Man City] had a lot of injuries which is unfortunate for them but it’s definitely a chance and a game that we’re wanting to take points in,” our No.4 continued.
“We didn’t capitalise on the opportunities that we had (against Arsenal) and that’s definitely something that we’re going to be looking to exploit Man City on.
“We’re really excited for the game, and we’ve got some outcomes that we’re definitely keen to take from that game and hopefully we can put a few in the back of the net.”
Bott went on to talk about the fans and how much of an impact they can have from the sidelines, with their support linked to an undefeated home run, which has seen us take 11 from the last 15 available points on Filbert Way.
“Our fans are incredible at King Power Stadium and at our away games as well,” Bott said commending the Blue Army. “They probably underestimate their power - the noise in the stands is what keeps us going during the lulls in the game but also the highs as well.
“If we can just keep that going and have as many fans turn up and have them as loud as possible for us, that would just be amazing and I’m sure we will get more points on the board because of them.”
