LCFC Women were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Plaace at Meadow Lane
We were knocked out of the Subway Women’s League Cup in the group stages
Foxes Manager Rick Passmoor shared his reflections on the game post-match
The weekend’s loss to Palace at Meadow Lane resulted in the Eagles taking top spot in Group D on goal differnce, while second place wasn't enough for the Foxes to continue in the competition. Unable to score a goal against 10 players, which would have reversed the league positions, Passmoor shared his thoughts on the defeat, admitting that work has to be done to improve the side.
“The purpose of today was to be in the hat for the next round,” the Manager stated. “We worked on different aspects of the game, and we didn’t deliver.
The Foxes exited the League Cup after defeat to Crystal Palace.
“We need to work on ourselves and perhaps look at our expectations and where we are at the moment, but the most important thing I want to do is make sure we always put in a performance - and we didn’t do that today.
“We need to use this international window to address that and have a rethink and maybe a remodel of how we set up but until then we need to look at how each player plays, making sure they win their battles, but today was frustrating.
“We were seeing progress and development prior to the last international break, but since we’ve come back, we haven’t seen the same level or impact on our games and that starts with the staff and then on to the players.
“We’ve got two more challenging games before Christmas, and we need to be set to go again and put in performances that we can be proud of. We need to respond after this game, but it’s bitterly disappointing.”
An unfortunate way to head into the second international break of the season, Passmoor wants to use this opportunity to make adjustments to his game plan which he hopes will enable the players to be better equipped for the upcoming challenges.
The Manager wants to use the break to make improvements.
“We need to look at how we want to play, and how we deliver those points. I think we need to go back to basics and start getting them right,” he continued.
“I want us to be harder to beat and I look forward to working with the team and the players to be prepared for the two games before Christmas.”
His last words were to the fans that made the trip to Nottingham on a cold Sunday afternoon in November to show their unwavering support.
“I applaud the fans for their support up and down the country, it never goes unnoticed, and we need you with us,” Passmoor added.
“We always appreciate it, and we want to be playing for the fans and give them something to be proud of, so we’ll keep working to achieve that.”
