We're facing Sheffield United in our WSL2 season opener on Sunday
Rick Passmoor has assessed the squad's current fitness ahead of the game
Olivia McLoughlin is out for four to six weeks with ankle injury
Emma Jansson is nearing a return to the pitch
Emilia Pelgander is back among the midfield options after loan spell in Sweden
We’re just days away from our competitive season starting, and it begins on the road for the Foxes, who will face the Blades at Bramall Lane.
Heading into the weekend, the Manager spoke to the media to offer a fitness update on the squad, which included McLoughlin, Jansson, and the longer-term absence of Celeste Boureille.
“Celeste is long-term, so she is still out,” Passmoor stated. “Liv McLoughlin has rolled her ankle and will be out for four-six weeks and that has only just happened recently.
The Manager confirmed Olivia McLoughlin will be out for four to six weeks.
“Emma Jansson has had an operation in the summer, but she is doing well in her recovery, and we are expecting her back around the end of September, start of October, but of course she hasn’t had a pre-season, so we need to see how she’s doing.”
Passmoor also discussed Emilia Pelgander, who has joined back up with the squad after spending the previous season out on loan. The Manager believes the Swedish midfielder is ready to play an important part in our campaign.
He added: “One player worth mentioning as well is Emilia [Pelgander]. She’s been at the Club a little while, so we wanted to give her the opportunity and not just send her out on loan again.
“She’s looked great and has the bit between her teeth to improve and play her part. Not everyone may be fit for 90 minutes but we’ll be in a good place for Sheffield United.”
