LCFC Women drew 2-2 with Southampton on Sunday afternoon
Araya Dennis opened the scoring before Freya Jupp scored a brace for the visitors
Alisha Lehmann came off the bench to score late on
Manager Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts at full-time on Filbert Way
Araya Dennis' early goal, and a late strike from substitute Alisha Lehmann, either side of a Freya Jupp double for the Saints, meant the points were shared last weekend. Pleased to have stopped a run of four straight losses in the league, our Manager was happy with his teams’ effort to fight until the end and get a positive seventh point on the board.
“We found a way to get something from the game,” Passmoor stated. “We started well and scored early, momentum then went back and forth, and we understand about the two goals conceded.
“Half-time came at a good time for us to reset and review, speak to the players, encourage them and reinforce our principles. And in the second half our substitutions made a great impact.
“Those were the chances when we got in-behind, scored a good equaliser and found a way, even though the game didn’t go perfectly for us.
“To come back, and get two goals at home is really positive, so we’ll review moving forward but today, I think we got a valuable point.”
Passmoor was full of praise for the fans who battled the elements on Sunday to come down to King Power Stadium and cheered the team on to a point.
He hopes that the point will give us something to build on, as we look to push our way back up the standings.
“I’ve got to thank the fans for their efforts, they lifted the roof and we started to get to the ball first and started getting opportunities,” our Manager added.
“Poppy [Pritchard] came close at the end with a chip as well, but during those moments, we looked good and were searching for that winner.
“It’s something to build on. Particularly in this league, teams beat each other and Southampton have started well. How they play is very effective and we’ve come away with something to build on.”
