Our Women’s Academy are just past the halfway stage in their campaign, and have found their feet this year, winning all of their first four in 2026.
It was a tough start to the season for the youngsters who won just three of their first 12 in the first stage of the league division, which ultimately led to their inclusion in Division 2.
The Academy sit top of the PGA U21-League Division 2.
Starting the second phase in early December, we went on to beat Tottenham Hotspur 8-2 at Belvoir Drive, with Freya Pearce and Poppy Groves both scoring a brace.
A week later, the only defeat in six came at the hands of Southampton, but the calendar year was signed off with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace; Groves once again on the scoresheet along with Muna Eze.
The action started back up again on 7 January, with another 3-0 victory, this time over Birmingham City before a 4-3 close affair against Charlton Athletic fell in favour of the Foxes.
Twelve games remain this term.
Most recently, the drama unfolded in the East Midlands, when City, coached by Louis Sowe, came from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Sheffield United 5-2.
Amya Hammond-McLean scored twice, as Crista Chetcuti-Ganado, Seniaya Knill and top scorer Sammy Kaczmar, who has 13 this term, also found the target.
Next in action on Sunday afternoon, when Liverpool make the trip to Belvoir Drive, who are nine points behind Leicester at the summit.
