LCFC Women make the trip south this Sunday to face London City Lionesses
The two sides meet in Group D of the Subway Women’s League Cup
Both have three points heading into the 2pm kick-off at CopperJax Community Stadium
Wales international Olivia Clark shared her thoughts on the game
With our focus switching to the League Cup this Sunday, it could provide a potential opportunity for Clark to get valuable minutes between the sticks and show her qualities to the Manager and coaching staff.
Having played the full 90 in the previous cup game, a 5-1 win against Ipswich Town, the Welsh shot-stopper is excited at the prospect of more game time, but remains humble, believing she is in the best place to learn, regardless of if she’s in the starting line-up or not.
“I just want to be happy playing football, and I’ve definitely achieved that here,” Clark stated. “It’s about being in an environment where I can focus on myself and by doing that, helping Wales as well.
Clark joined the Foxes in January of this year.
“Playing on the weekend is my ultimate goal, but I’m still young, so I’ve got to be patient. Learning from Jani [Leitzig] is great, because she’s the best person to learn from.
“I want to push every single week, and I don’t go into training thinking I’m not going to play, and I’m always developing, working with a good group of ‘keepers and staff, so it’s about controlling what I can control.”
Always prepared for action, Clark went on to talk about the positive environment there is between herself, Janina Leitzig and Katie Keane at Leicester City.
Every player has a desire to be on the pitch, but as long as she keeps her development on track, she is happy to help the team in any way she can.
The 'keeper has been patient for her moment.
“I try not to put too much pressure on myself,” our No.13 added. “If you go into the games thinking I have to perform and I have to do well then you probably won’t do your best.
“I know I’ve done the work during the weeks and months that I’ve been here, so it’s just about putting it all together on a Sunday.
“I’ve played a lot of games for Wales and at previous clubs, so it’s just another game and I know I’m capable of doing it.
“I just try to enjoy it because it’s nice to play, be part of the game and do what I can do help the team.”
