LCFC Women return to WSL action this weekend against London City Lionesses
The Foxes are four points adrift heading into the final four games of the season
Rick Passmoor provided a lengthy update on the fitness of his squad on Friday afternoon
The Foxes return to league duties this Sunday afternoon (12pm BST kick-off), with a trip to mid-table London City Lionesses, who have achieved safety in their first season in the top flight.
Leicester, on the other hand, have a job in hand to reduce the deficit and retain our WSL status, and the Manager has provided an update heading into the clash, which mentioned a large group of players, starting with the unexpected absence of Leitzig, following an injury to her hand.
"Janina will be unavailable," Passmoor stated. "She has an injury with her hand, which will be ongoing, and she won't be available this weekend.
"Emily [van Egmond] has come back from a trip with the Matildas with a broken finger and has had a plate fitted, so she will also be unavailable this weekend.
The Manager confirmed Janina Leitzig has picked up an injury on her hand.
"Alisha Lehmann didn't travel with Switzerland, has spent this time recovering and will be available to be in the squad. Rosella [Ayane] and Emma [Jansson] have had a bug, but have been reintegrated into training so we will monitor their progress.
"Hannah [Cain] has been away shining for Wales, but has returned with a bug and a bit of tiredness, and today (Friday) was her first day back training so we'll see how she's doing going into matchday."
The Manager announced that Olivia Clark has the chance to fill the spot at goalkeeper, having returned from injury, while Denny Draper's mini pre-season with the Under-21s has seen her score five goals in her last three games.
Going on to update on how long-term absentee Jutta Rantala is also nearing a return, he says the whole squad are dedicated to turn fortunes around, starting this weekend in south London.
Denny Draper has scored five goals in three games for the Academy in recent weeks.
"The good news starts with Olivia Clark," Passmoor continued. "She has pushed through her recovery well and is back with the team.
"Denny [Draper] has had minutes with the Under-21s and been scoring. We'll have a look to see if she can feature this season. There is a big gap between Academy football and WSL 1 and the standard is very competitive and relentless so we need to see if she's ready for that this season, after such a long time out injured.
"Jutta [Rantala] has also been back and training with the squad, but has been out since October so won't be with the squad yet. Heather [Payne] has also rejoined training over the break and been competing for a spot so she will be available."
