Leicester’s European stars took to the global stage once more in the group stages of the Nations League, with many fighting for survival, while looking to impress ahead of the UEFA 2025 Women’s Euros in Switzerland.
Among them was Janice Cayman, who played every minute for Belgium, who were beaten heavily by Spain at King Power at Den Draaf, before winning against Portugal away from home on Tuesday evening.
Tessa Wullaert scored a brace which meant the Red Flames leapfrogged their Portuguese counterparts to finish third in League A Group 3 with six points.
Olivia Clark was another to start twice across the break, for Wales, who fell to consecutive defeat to Denmark (1-0), before losing out to Italy 4-1 in Swansea.

Unfortunately, Clark was withdrawn at half-time through injury, as her Leicester team-mate Hannah Cain played 90 minutes, but it was Seattle Reign’s Jess Fishlock who scored the late consolation goal as the Red Dragons finished bottom of League A Group 4.
Sophie Howard’s Scotland also saw disappointment, finishing bottom of their respected group with just one point, which came on Wednesday evening in a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.
Losing out to Austria at Hampden Park a few days prior, Jill Roord’s early strike was cancelled out by Kathleen McGovern to result in a draw.
The final Fox to feature in the Nations League was Hlín Eiríksdóttir who started both of Iceland’s games against Norway and France.

Scoring first against the Norwegians, an own goal inside the last 10 minutes ensured the points were shared, before a 2-0 reverse to France this week, in which Sandy Baltimore and Grace Geyoro confirmed a third-placed finish in League A Group 2 for the Stelpurnar Okkar (Our girls).
Elsewhere, Courtney Nevin started once and was a late substitute for Australia who beat Argentina twice in friendly action, winning 2-0 before Amy Sayer, who plays her football in Sweden scored a brace in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory.
Finally, Yuka Momiki played for Japan in two matches against Brazil. The talented midfielder came on after 65 minutes in the first match, in which Japan lost 3-1, and assisted Kiko Seike late on.
This warranted her a start in the following game, where Brighton & Hove Albion’s Seike scored again, but were ultimately beaten 2-1 in Sāo Paulo.
