England Under-19s eliminated from the UEFA Under-19 EUROs
The final group stage game saw the Young Lionesses lose 1-0 to Spain
Nelly Las started the fixture in which Christina Librán scored a late winner
Nelly Las, who had failed to start either of the first two group stage games, was given the nod to play against the reigning European champions, Spain, last weekend.
Heading into the deciding game with three points from the first two games, after beating Netherlands 2-1 before being beaten by four goals to one against Portugal, it was all to play for in Group B.
Picking up a start in the U19 EUROs.
With the scores goalless for the majority of the game, it took a 96th-minute winner from Cristina Librán to break England hearts, knocking them out of the tournament.
Finishing third in the group, it means Spain will face Italy as France take on Portugal in Tuesday’s semi-finals before the final showdown on Friday evening to determine the victor.
A disappointing ending to this summer’s competition in Poland, Las started once and came off the bench in another, but can keep her head held high, returning to Belvoir Drive with a wealth of experience on the international stage.
