LCFC Women beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon
The Foxes head back to Brisbane Road this weekend for FA Cup action
Defender Sari Kees believes wins will build confidence in the squad
The Belgian centre-half was disappointed to not come away from Brisbane Road with anything last time out, as we lost 1-0 to Spurs. She did keep her head held high post-match, believing there are positives to take, considering the team hadn’t played together for four weeks over the festive period.
The Foxes have the chance for redemption this weekend when we travel back to north London.
“I think we had a good first half,” Kees stated. “We made it difficult for Spurs and we were aggressive in the pressure. But then in the final third we missed that final pass or chance.
“Going into the winter break with fresh legs, I think we’ve worked hard in the build-up to this game, but we wanted more from it.”
Three new signings - Ashleigh Neville, Sarah Mayling and Emma Jansson - were involved in Sunday’s action, with two of them starting in the back five, along with the former OH Leuven defender.
Full of praise for the trio, she explained how they have energised the whole squad on the training pitch since their arrival this month.
“I think they have been a good boost,” Kees added. “The new players have fitted in really well and adapted to our tactics also.
“They have a lot of experience and a lot of energy. They aren’t silent, from the first day, they brought their opinion about the game, which is good.
“We just want more wins, and to get three points. We had a couple of wins at home, but we want to make it a more regular thing to build confidence.”
