  • LCFC Women fell to an eighth loss of the WSL campaign
  • Hannah Cain was proud of her team-mates’ performance despite defeat
Things towards the bottom half of the Barclays Women’s Super League are heating up, with just two points separating the bottom four.
Still at the top of those four, Cain was disappointed to lose out in a close encounter with West Ham but took positives from the display.
“Really disappointed,” Cain answered to how she was feeling at full-time. “We want to be winning games all the time, but especially against teams around us in the league.
Cain believes the Foxes are going in the right direction despite defeat.

“But I think our performance was one of the best we’ve had this season, both in and out of possession, and we can build on that.
“I know we keep saying that, but I think the fans could really see how well we played, and hopefully we take confidence going forward.
“If you watch the last 20-30 minutes of the game, we were really on the front foot. As a forward, that’s how you want it.
“I think today it was about being calm and composed and I think we’ve lacked that at times throughout the season, but today we improved on that.
“We kept the ball well and won it back quicker. It’s a process, not just a one-off thing, so hopefully we can build on that.”

Four new Foxes were in the starting XI on Sunday afternoon, making their home debut, while Alisha Lehmann was also introduced to the Blue Army later on in the second half.
Discussing the impact the new faces have had on the team, the Welsh forward believes we are pushing in the right direction, and wins will start to come as we progress through the campaign.
“Sometimes it’s nice to freshen up the environment you work in,” Cain continued. “They have really added energy, they’re great people and credit to them, they’ve added quality to the team today.
“Obviously I want to be winning games. It’s been difficult to get on the scoresheet at the moment and that plays on your mind as a forward but opportunities will come.
“We just need to get bodies higher up and keep creating chances and I think today felt better, so for me personally, I hope I can get myself into the box more to score, and turn these games into wins.”
