During a closely fought encounter, Joel Latibeaudiere’s header with 10 minutes to play proved to be the only goal of the game - a fixture which proved to be another key part of our pre-season preparations. The 90-minute workout at LCFC Training Ground allowed 16 players to gain minutes prior to tonight’s match against Serie A outfit Genoa at King Power Stadium.

Tickets remain available HERE for the Filbert Way fixture, which is a 7:30 BST kick-off and a final opportunity to fine tune ahead of our campaign beginning with a Carabao Cup clash versus Northampton Town in a week’s time.

Against Frank Lampard's outfit, we fielded a blend of youth and experience, with Harry Souttar captain and partnering Wout Faes at the heart of the defence, while Hamza Choudhury and Fran Vieites were in the XI too.

New signing Christian McFarlane, who arrived on loan from Manchester City earlier this week, got his first runout in a Leicester City shirt, with Academy products Olabade Aluko, Louis Page, Tommy Neale, Riley Carr and Lorenz Hutchinson also starting in Seagrave, the latter replaced by Michael Golding at half-time.

A bright start from the Foxes saw Carr test Ben Wilson from a tight angle after being played in down the right side, while at the other end Vieites had to be alert and use his feet to divert a low effort from Ellis Simms out for a corner midway through the first half.

The Spaniard made another couple of good saves either side of the break, denying Bobby Thomas’ header from a corner before keeping out Simms again following the interval.

The Coventry No.9 was halted a third time by the 27-year-old, who quickly made a full-stretch stop from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto.

Ryan Donnelly and Mirsad Ali had come on for the final 15, shortly followed by Jake Evans, with Kirsten Otchere another introduced during the second period.

And after Latibeaudiere headed in a corner from close range for the visitors, Golding almost levelled the scores late on, though his strike came crashing back off the crossbar. Donnelly’s follow up effort was then blocked, but it was another beneficial runout for the Foxes, with 26/27 almost upon us.
