They change lives, strengthen communities and open doors to meaningful careers for many people across the globe.
This year’s celebrations felt especially significant for Leicester City in the Community, whose commitment to developing young people through high-quality apprenticeship opportunities was recognised on a national stage.
Last week, the Club’s charitable arm was named Coach Core Employer of the Year – Sustained at the Coach Core Awards. The awards bring together apprentices, graduated apprentices, employers, learning coaches and partners from across the country to celebrate everything that makes the Coach Core network so special.

Taking place in the heart of National Apprenticeship Week, the event provided the perfect platform to shine a light on the dedication, care and long-term investment shown by organisations supporting apprentices.
Winning the Employer of the Year – Sustained award is a powerful endorsement of LCitC’s ongoing commitment to creating supportive environments where apprentices can thrive, and its Grow Your Own staff development programme.
Through mentoring, education and hands-on experience, the programme continues to equip young people with the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to build lasting careers in sport.
Community Apprentice Olivia was named Apprentice of the Year – Community Coaching.

LCitC’s impact was also reflected in the recognition of its apprentices. Kyle was nominated for Graduate of the Year, while Caitlin received a nomination for Apprentice of the Year. Both played a key role in the celebrations, speaking on panel discussions about their journeys as Coach Core apprentices. Their honest insights highlighted the real-life benefits of the programme and the personal growth that apprenticeships can unlock.
Elsewhere, Community Apprentice Olivia was named Apprentice of the Year – Community Coaching, receiving her national award at the prestigious Lifetime Learning Awards, underlining the breadth of talent and impact within the Coach Core family.
National Apprenticeship Week brings together everyone passionate about apprenticeships to celebrate the value, opportunity and life-changing potential they offer. For Leicester City in the Community, this week was a proud reminder that sustained investment in people doesn’t just win awards, but helps to shape futures.
