John Shiels MBE and a team of former Sir Bobby Charlton Soccer School coaches visited King Power Stadium as part of their 92 League Club 'Beautiful Game Tour'
The group is cycling more than 1,600 miles to every Premier League and English Football League stadium over 10 weeks
The tour celebrates the collective impact of the network of 92 football club charities supporting communities across England and Wales
John met with Head of Community Allison Tripney, LCFC Operations Director Alan Dawson and participants from Leicester City in the Community's Silver Foxes programme

The group, made up of former Sir Bobby Charlton Soccer School coaches, is cycling more than 1,600 miles over 10 weeks, visiting all 92 Premier League and English Football League clubs to shine a spotlight on the incredible work delivered by football club charities in their local communities and demonstrate the collective power of football to change lives.

During their visit to Leicester, John met with Leicester City in the Community's Head of Community, Allison Tripney, alongside Leicester City Football Club's Operations Director, Alan Dawson, who previously served as a Trustee of the Manchester United Foundation. Together, they welcomed the group to King Power Stadium and shared how Leicester City in the Community continues to use the power of football to support people of all ages across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The visit included a tour of Leicester City in the Community's Community Hub before the group met participants from the Silver Foxes programme. They heard first-hand how the sessions help older adults stay active, improve their wellbeing, reduce social isolation and build lasting friendships through football.

The nationwide tour has been created to showcase the strength of football's unique community network. While each football club charity delivers programmes tailored to the needs of its own community, together the 92 organisations form one of the UK's largest sporting networks for social good, collectively supporting hundreds of thousands of people every year through education, health, wellbeing, inclusion, employability and participation programmes.

As part of the journey, John and the team are gathering stories from every club to help demonstrate the collective impact of the network. These case studies will contribute towards a report for the new Independent Football Regulator, reinforcing the importance of protecting and supporting football club charities so they can continue creating opportunities and changing lives in communities across the country.

Speaking after the visit, Head of Community Allison Tripney said: "It was inspirational to meet John and the team today as part of their amazing tour of all 92 Football Club Charities.

"Their commitment to raising awareness of the impactful work taking place off the pitch is truly commendable, and our Silver Foxes thoroughly enjoyed sharing their journeys with Leicester City in the Community. We wish them every success for the remainder of their challenge."

Having dedicated almost five decades to using football as a force for good, including many years working alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and 18 years as Chief Executive of Manchester United Foundation, John hopes the tour will highlight the strength of football's community network and demonstrate that, together, the 92 club charities can have an even greater impact by championing the role football plays in improving lives.
