Leicester City In The Community are calling on fans to bring their old football boots to Saturday's game
We are supporting Utilita’s nationwide Football Rebooted campaign
Drop off your no-longer-needed boots at a special collection point at Morrisons
Children and local teams can then be given access to free boots and astros
Through Utilita’s nationwide Football Rebooted campaign, we’re helping to ensure that good quality boots don’t end up forgotten in cupboards or, worse, in landfill. Instead, they can go straight back into community, where they’re needed the most.
Football Rebooted has already saved families across the UK millions of pounds by giving children and local teams access to free boots and astros.
With the cost of living still a very real issue for many Leicester families, and participation costs for local sports provisions rising, something as simple as a pair of boots can be the difference between a child joining in or sitting out.
Leicester City in the Community also run programmes for refugees and people seeking asylum, and access to boots allows them to join these programmes, finding their place alongside new friends in their new city. By donating, you’re directly supporting the next generation of players and helping keep community football open to all.
On Saturday, before the Oxford match, you can drop off your no-longer-needed boots at a special collection point at Morrisons, only a five-minute walk from the stadium. Our team, along with a couple of familiar faces, will be on hand for the hours ahead of kick-off.
Every pair collected will go to someone who needs them. Whether they once belonged to a Sunday league striker, a five-a-side regular, or a junior Foxes fan who’s outgrown them faster than expected, your old boots can help keep grassroots pitches across Leicestershire full and thriving.
The Utilita campaign is not the only activation Leicester City in the Community has on offer during this fixture, with several activities for families to interact with on the brick weave, as well as the opportunity for fans to hear first-hand from staff and programme participants throughout the afternoon as part of the EFL’s Scan to Smile campaign.
Leicester City in the Community are proud to support a scheme that champions sustainability while strengthening local football provision. The more boots we gather, the more people we can keep involved in the sport we all love.
So if you’ve got a pair at home that you no longer need, whether adult or child sized, bring them down to Morrisons before the match. A simple donation from one fan can make a big difference to another.
