Daka’s first came just four minutes in at King Power Stadium, but Paul Heckingbottom’s visitors turned the game on its head before half-time. Andrew Moran’s swiped shot came off the bar and landed over the line in the 38th minute before a second for the Lilywhites – Ben Whiteman’s looping header – put them in front seven minutes later.
Leicester City pushed for a leveller after the break and were rewarded with nine minutes to play, Daka firing a second into the roof of the net, but we weren’t able to go on and snatch a late winner which would have been precious in this fight for Sky Bet Championship survival. Still 22nd, we head to already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday on Monday, looking to make sure it is still a profitable Easter weekend (3pm BST kick-off).

Daka opens the scoring
Coming after the international break, and with the game falling earlier than the usual Saturday due to the Easter schedule, we had players returning from duty with their countries close to kick-off this week.
Daka was one of those, having represented Zambia against world champions Argentina in the week, but he was sharp to a loose back-pass just four minutes in. He latched onto it, took a touch, and spotted that former City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen was out of position.
The City forward looked up and slotted into a gaping net to provide the lift we all needed heading into a crucial run of fixtures which will determine our divisional status next term. We had, indeed, started brightly, pushing up the pitch and looking to take control of the contest in the early exchanges.

Preston hit back
Even before our opener, Preston had threatened with Lewis Dobbin’s low delivery just missing Moran in the centre. Dobbin also tested Jakub Stolarczyk in the Foxes net midway through the half, with Leicester nevertheless pressing high and striving to hold control.
Iversen was then tasked with stopping Daka from the edge of the area, after being spotted by Stephy Mavididi, before also flailing an arm out to deny Divine Mukasa. But the half took a turn in the latter moments, first when Moran’s hit ricocheted off the bar and down, landing not much more than a millimetre over the line.
The referee's watch confirmed it was a fraction over and Preston were level. The Lancashire outfit were in front at the interval too, as Whiteman’s header, from an Alfie Devine cross, looped up over everyone and into the far bottom corner. A half which held considerable initial promise for Leicester ended with us trailing.

Fighting for a point, missing out on a win
We came out in the second period knowing two goals and a win were very much still the target. Five minutes in, Abdul Fatawu’s low delivery flashed across the goalmouth, with the Ghanaian – who scored against Germany in midweek – also blasting a volley straight at Iversen.
Daka, Harry Winks and Mukasa went close from range later on, before a big moment in the game. Ricardo Pereira’s forward ball was aimed at Daka, who was felled by Jordan Storey, perhaps the last man. Oliver Skipp, though, ran onto it, although he was thwarted by Iversen. After much deliberation, the referee elected a yellow card was sufficient for Storey, despite the protestations of those in blue, both on the field and in the stands.
Daka then pounced on an error by Pol Valentin, rifling it into the corner with nine to go, setting up a dramatic finish on Filbert Way. We kept surging forwards too, with Luke Thomas and then Caleb Okoli both putting Iversen to work, with Michael Smith providing an alarming reminder of Preston’s threats at the start of seven added minutes, nodding just wide. Winks’ low curler, which deflected mere inches wide, off Lewis Gibson trailing leg, was the closest we came in added time. There was applause at the end from the Blue Army, but all in King Power Stadium know wins are what’s required, with that very much the focus on Monday at Hillsborough.
