We head to Hillsborough on Monday looking to go one further after a 2-2 draw with Preston North End at King Power Stadium on Friday – a frustrating outcome despite being behind at one stage, such is our need for points in the Sky Bet Championship.

This trip to Yorkshire is the first of a six-game run-in for the Foxes, sitting 22nd in the table and one point adrift of safety. Rowett, who was speaking after that draw with Preston, warned he’s expecting nothing but our best despite the Owls already being relegated.

“We cannot go to Hillsborough with any sort of attitude that suggests we don’t have to do what we did [on Friday],” he said.

“We have to go with the same energy, the same determination, the same battling qualities. Then our qualities, hopefully, will create opportunities for us.

“But if you go there with anything less, it’s a difficult game because everyone expects you to go and win. We have to make sure we do everything right.

“If we do, we give ourselves a fantastic opportunity. The last three performances have been outstanding, but we’ve got to go and do that.

“Nobody’s going to give us it. We’ll make sure we rest and recover and get the lads ready to go again.”

Daka was our double goalscorer against Preston and Rowett was delighted with his input, as the Zambian took his 25/26 tally to six on Friday. Coming on the back of an international break, his preparation time was limited, but he still made a key impact.

“[I was] majorly impressed,” the Manager explained. “Pato flew on a three-legged flight. It basically was from Argentina to Chile and from Chile to Paris and from Paris to England.

“Then he’s obviously got to travel to here as well, I think from Birmingham. He got here, trained [on Thursday] for an hour. Your recovery isn’t going to be as good.

“I thought he was out on his feet at the end, but his energy, his work-rate was absolutely outstanding. He deserved the two goals today. It’s shows the commitment.

“We talk about it lot don’t we, but it shows the commitment of that player. Bobby [De Cordova-Reid] didn’t even train yesterday. I asked him to go and give me 20 minutes and I thought he was excellent when he came on.

“I’m pleased with the performance. Apart from the two [Preston] goals, there wasn’t that much to dislike about it. I think we are very, very unfortunate – with the stats, in terms of the shots and shots on target – I thought we deserved to win the game.”
