  • This weekend’s game will be dedicated to LOROS Hospice
  • Funds will go towards reopening seven beds on its inpatient ward
  • LOROS were forced to close some of their beds last summer, only 24 of the 31 are currently open
  • Text LOROS plus the amount you wish to donate to 70480 to support. For example, to donate £5 text LOROS5 to 70480
The game on Filbert Way will see us support efforts to raise vital funds for the reopening of seven beds on the inpatient ward at the Hospice - which is our latest commitment through The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation to give back to local causes.
The LOROS inpatient ward has 31 beds, but lack of funding means only 24 can open, and without access, many patients face unnecessary suffering and rapid decline.
With an increasing demand from an ageing population, the reopening of these beds will help to transform the lives of those in our region, allowing patients to manage pain, regain comfort and even return home.
On matchday, the Blue Army will be encouraged to donate to the appeal, supporting a charity who provide free, high-quality, compassionate care to more than 2,500 terminally ill adult patients across Leicestershire and Rutland.
Staff and volunteers from LOROS will be visible around the ground throughout the day, bucket collecting and meeting fans to recognise the vital role the Hospice on Groby Road plays in our local community.
Leicester City Club Ambassador Alan Birchenall said: “It means a lot to me personally that we’re dedicating this weekend’s game to LOROS and the amazing work they do for people in our community.
“I’ve seen the care and support they give to patients and their families during really tough times, it is something special.
“With the backing of our fans, hopefully we can do our bit to help them reopen these much-needed inpatient beds and keep providing that care and compassion to those who need it most.”
LOROS Chief Executive Camilla Barrow said: “We’re delighted to once again have this opportunity to reach out to Leicester City’s wonderful supporters.
“This has been a difficult year for LOROS, as we’ve faced some incredibly tough decisions about our services, but the support of our local community has been truly inspiring and we’re so grateful to LCFC for standing with us as we continue to deliver compassionate, dignified care to patients and their families.”
LOROS not only support families at a critical time, they also help to reduce NHS pressure by delivering care in the community.
Like many hospices across the UK, LOROS is under increasing financial strain and most of their money comes through fundraising. This is why your help and support ahead of our game this weekend is vital to their work.
To donate, please text LOROS plus the amount you wish to donate to 70480. For example, if you would like to donate £5, text LOROS5 to 70480.
Please note texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
