  • Leicester City open 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship season at home to Sheffield Wednesday
  • Newly-promoted Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic among our first opponents
  • Preston North End and Oxford United included in our first five as well
Thursday’s fixture release has outlined our schedule for the 25/26 campaign, and with the 46 games now confirmed we’ve taken a look at the first five, and who we will face across August into September.
Our curtain-raiser against the Owls at King Power Stadium on Sunday 10 August, which has been selected for live coverage on Sky Sports, is to be followed by successive away trips to Preston North End, on Saturday 16 August, and Charlton Athletic a week later.
Confirmed champions at Deepdale.

City’s last visit to Deepdale brings back happy memories, as a comfortable 3-0 win, thanks to a double from Jamie Vardy and one from Kasey McAteer, confirmed us as second-tier champions, for a record eighth time.
A trip to south London to face newly-promoted Charlton follows, which will be our first visit in 12 years, having not played at the Valley since a 2-1 loss in 2013; Michael Morrison and Yann Kermorgant goals proving enough to see out the win for the hosts despite Danny Drinkwater's second-half strike. Our last win at The Addicks came in FA Cup action back in 2005, when Dion Dublin netted a dramatic last-minute header.
August then concludes for us with a Filbert Way fixture against Birmingham City, who also join the division having been crowned Sky Bet League One champions last season.
Tackling Oxford in pre-season, as Premier League champions.

Our fifth fixture of the campaign sees us back on the road, as we head south to face Oxford United at Kassam Stadium.
You would have to go back to 1994 for the last competitive fixture between the two sides to take place in Oxfordshire, when the match ended 2-2.
We have faced off against The U’s more recently, in 2016/17 pre-season following our title-winning campaign, when Demarai Gray and Jeffrey Schlupp were on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win.
