Leicester City are due at Queens Park Rangers this Saturday (3pm kick-off)
Aaron Ramsey and Jeremy Monga could return to the squad following injury
Patson Daka is now away with Zambia for AFCON and will miss this game
Martí Cifuentes also gave updates on Caleb Okoli, Boubakary Soumaré and Harry Souttar
We’re heading to the capital this weekend for our meeting with QPR (3pm kick-off), aiming to build on a positive run of recent results in the Sky Bet Championship.
Unbeaten in three prior to the trip to MATRADE Loftus Road, Cifuentes has been speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, providing an update on the squad ahead of a final pre-Christmas fixture against the Hoops.
And the squad could be boosted by the return of both Aaron Ramsey and Jeremy Monga, with both midfielders in training this week. Burnley loanee Ramsey hasn’t featured since October, while Monga has missed the last three matches.
“Good news, finally, [is that] both Aaron and Jez are feeling good,” the Spaniard told reporters. “Aaron has been training at a high level, same with Jeremy. So, if everything goes well, they will be ready for the game.”
Patson Daka will be missing, however, having left the group to join up with his country, Zambia, at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Copper Bullets play their final group stage fixture on Monday 29 December.
“We’ve nothing new,” City’s Manager confirmed. “Obviously, we know Pato left on Sunday to join AFCON so we’re going to wish him all the best and good luck with that. Apart from that, everyone is available.”
Long-term absentee Harry Souttar, meanwhile, continues to recover in Seagrave, while fellow centre-back Caleb Okoli is back in training, though Saturday will also come too soon for him. It’s a similar situation for Boubakary Soumaré, too.
“It’s difficult to say,” the 43-year-old said on Souttar. “Still he comes from a long injury, so we want to take the right steps. If he keeps on his progress, hopefully in the next few days or weeks I can give you a more accurate answer.
“Caleb is a little bit ahead of the schedule and feeling good. Hopefully next week he will join the group. He has already started to do some parts of the training with us. He will not be ready for Saturday, but we’ll see how he feels and how we develops next week.
“Bouba is still working in the rehab in the gym and hopefully next week he will start to be on the pitch.”
