We tackle Oxford City at MGroup Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup First Round on Friday
Our Manager has provided an update on his squad ahead of the 7:45pm GMT kick-off
Russell Martin says there’s no new injuries in the squad, but some may not be involved for other reasons
Jayden Joseph could become available after the international break, he added
The young Leicester City full-back, an Academy graduate, has been absent since the 4-3 victory at Stockport County on 12 September, and is not expected to return either in the FA Cup this week, or Tuesday’s Jersey Mike’s Trophy contest with Walsall. Huddersfield Town away in Sky Bet League One, on 21 November, is a more realistic target, but the 20-year-old will continue to work on his fitness in Seagrave, our Manager explained.
“He’s trained, but he’s been out quite a while,” Martin told reporters on Thursday afternoon. “He’s going to need a bit of time. We’re really hopeful he’ll be back in the squad for the Huddersfield game.”
The Manager also confirmed that there’s no fresh injuries in the group, but there will nevertheless be some fitness considerations, factoring in the surface at MGroup Stadium.
“No, but we also have to be realistic,” he added. “There’s probably a couple of players that can’t be involved because of their injury record and playing on a different surface.
“Not many, just one or two, so we have to be conscious of that. But in terms of injuries, no [new concerns]. We’ve had a couple of lads who were struggling with illness earlier on in the week but hopefully they’ll be fine and they’ve all trained and will get through it.
“Apart from that, we’re good. It’s a game we want to win and we’ll go as strong as we possibly can.”
