Leicester City head to Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off)
Martí Cifuentes shared the latest news on the squad following the international break
Louis Page (hamstring) will face a fitness test pre-game, though Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Victor Kristiansen could return
The 17-year-old, involved from the start in the previous two Sky Bet Championship matches as we recorded back-to-back victories ahead of the international break, has picked up a complaint on England Under-17s duty which will need to be checked ahead of the 12:30pm kick-off at Kassam Stadium.
Having played against Uzbekistan and Morocco, he was ruled out of the final match versus Canada due to a hamstring problem.
“The only one who came back a little bit earlier with a small little bit of feeling on his hamstring was Louis [Page],” City’s Manager told the media on Thursday afternoon, providing an update on the fitness of his squad. “The examinations that we have done show that he is good.
“Obviously he had this feeling still but everyone else is okay, [Louis is] probably available. It is about how much risk we want to take with him, but he trained today and was good.
“[We’ve been] actually lucky in that sense because it’s always a bit of a worry when the players are going on international duties.”
Long-term absentees De Cordova-Reid and Kristiansen are yet to feature so far this campaign but the 43-year-old hopes to have the pair back in contention sooner rather than later.
His first Seagrave session.
“They are doing really well, both of them are participating,” the Spaniard revealed. “Training with the team in different stages, I would say. They were different kind of injuries as well. Hopefully at least one of them will be available for the game.”
Any of the four new signings, meanwhile, could feature for the first time this weekend, having all now trained with their new team-mates in Seagrave.
“Everybody is looking good, all of the them are in a good spot,” Cifuentes added. “Coming from different situations, Aaron [Ramsey] was playing and involved in that dynamic at Burnley while Julián [Carranza] came from a different pre-season with Feyenoord.
“Fran [Vieites] started the pre-season with Betis but at some point was then training by himself after he left Betis. Jordan James has been involved with the national team. He played 65 minutes in each of the last games. Today was his first training. It’s good to get to know the other lads.”
