A brace from Khadija Shaw, and goals from Jess Park and Mary Fowler dispatched Leicester on a tough and testing day amidst Storm Darragh in Manchester.
In the Manchester cold at Joie Stadium, the hosts took the lead early on as Shaw netted within the first minute, directing a corner back across goal into the corner of the net.
The Foxes lost out to Man City on Sunday afternoon.
City then seemed to settle into the game, holding their shape and breaking into the Man City box on several occasions. But it was the Manchester outfit who scored next to increase the lead when a cross, hung up to the back post, was met by with a thumping header from Shaw, who put herself into double figures for the WSL campaign.
The best chance of the half for Miquel's side came minutes before the break when Courtney Nevin's in-swinging corner was directed towards goal but the ball ended up the wrong side of the post. The second half started in similar fashion to the first, with Man City starting quickly and finding the net through Park, who fired in a half-volley, before Fowler increased the hosts' lead further, with a fourth ahead of the hour mark.
Leicester face Birmingham City next week in the Women's League Cup.
As the rain started to pick up, Miquel made a run of changes, introducing youngsters Emilia Pelgander and Nelly Las into the game, the latter making her WSL debut. As the clock ran down, Leicester looked for a consolation goal, coming closest when CJ Bott's effort from outside of the box was claimed by the Citizens 'keeper. Returning to action after the international break with a loss against a formidable opponent, Leicester could slip to the bottom of the WSL table, depending on results elsewhere later in the day.
The Foxes are back in action next Wednesday when they face Birmingham City in the Women's League Cup at Meadow Lane in Nottingham, with a 7pm GMT kick-off.
