  • Manchester City claimed all three Premier League points on Wednesday evening
  • We fell to a duo of first-half goals from Jack Grealish and Omar Marmoush
  • Luke Thomas assessed the Foxes’ performance at Etihad Stadium
  • The defender has played 90 minutes in each of the last three fixtures
Jack Grealish’s strike inside three minutes at Etihad Stadium set the tone for a victory for the Citizens, who added a second when Omar Marmoush found the net prior to the break.
That was enough to see Pep Guardiola’s men claim all three points in Manchester and leave Leicester 19th in the Premier League table, 12 points adrift of safety with eight games remaining.
“We knew it was going to be a tough place to come,” the defender admitted. “We know it’s never easy when you come to the Etihad. We didn’t get off to the best of starts. We conceded early on and by doing that you know you’re making it difficult for yourselves.

“We said before the game to stay in it for the first 15 minutes – that’s what we needed to do, keep them away from our goal, obviously. We didn’t do that and it changed the game from there, really.
“It’s difficult when you come here and they’ve got the lead. They keep the ball and it’s hard to get it off them, to be honest. I think we did well in the second half to keep it at 2-0. They had a lot of the ball but we defended pretty well.
“We chased a bit towards the end of the game, but it was always about keeping the score at 2-0 at that point. Definitely it’s a tough one to take.”
A testing run has seen goals hard to come by for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, while keeping them out at the other end has been equally tough since the turn of the year.

The 23-year-old knows that the fight must remain within the squad in the upcoming fixtures, with Newcastle United next up for the Foxes back in front of the Blue Army at King Power Stadium on Monday night.
“We’ve got to keep working hard on the training field,” he continued. “It’s not over yet. We’ve got to go game by game and try and pick up as many points as we can until the end of the season and see what happens.
“Their (the fans’) support has been amazing through a difficult season and we can only appreciate that and hopefully they can continue to give us that support.”
Currently on a run of three consecutive Premier League starts, the Syston-born Academy graduate is enjoying being back in City’s XI, though is naturally frustrated by the current form.
The former England Under-21 international added: “It’s good to be back out on the pitch and playing games but obviously it’s difficult losing games as well. It’s positive in one way and negative in another.”
