  • Luke Thomas speaks on the benefits gained from City’s pre-season training camp
  • Final friendly games against FC Karpaty Lviv and FC Köln are to come on Friday
  • The defender is getting to grips with new Manager Martí Cifuentes’ style
  • There has also been time for some bonding activities with the rest of the group
Coming towards the end of a nine-day stint in central Europe, the Foxes are preparing for two final matches on Friday, with Ukraine Premier League outfit FC Karpaty Lviv up first at Sportzentrum Friedberg (10:30am kick-off), before the other half of the squad will line up against German Bundesliga side FC Köln at the Merkur Arena (4pm kick-off).
Several gruelling double sessions on the training pitch at our base in Stegersbach, meanwhile, have allowed Thomas and co to take on board new Manager Martí Cifuentes' tactical ideas and methods across the week.

“It’s been a good week and I think it’s gone well,” the Academy graduate assessed. “Him (Cifuentes) coming in has really helped to get the team together.
“This week has been mainly about that and him showing his style and what he wants us to do as players and as a team. Hopefully by the first game of the season we’ll all be ready and get off to a good start.
“We’ve had a meeting every morning to show what we’re going to be doing in training which makes it a lot easier to explain, rather than having to do it on the pitch and show players, which obviously puts it in our heads before training.
“You know what you’re going into and what you’re working on, so it has been good. We’ve got a good group of players as it is and everyone wants to work hard and bring their best to training sessions and games.”

A look at Monday's training session in Austria as we continue to work towards the new season.
Bonding with team-mates during downtime has helped to bring everyone together, the 24-year-old believes, an important aspect of growing closer as a unit. Allowing the squad to briefly take their minds away from the football, there has still been an edge to the games.
“We’ve had a few team bonding exercises,” he explained. “We went (ten-pin) bowling the other day, which was good. A lot of the lads have groups to play Uno and Nintendo Switch to play Mario Kart. We do two teams of three and we’ll play against each other over six races.
“It’s quite competitive in that, as you’d expect from a football team. It’s in everything we do, because I think as players you have that in you anyway to be competitive no matter what you do. You always want to win and we’ve definitely had that over the week.
“Outside of football, I enjoy playing racket sports myself, so it was good to go there (to play padel) on our day off and that got competitive too. Me and Stephy [Mavididi] actually won that so we’ll take it.

“These trips are always intense football-wise, so when you get those down days, it’s important to switch your mind off and enjoy something else you like throughout the day.”
All set for more minutes in the tank prior to returning to the East Midlands, the full-back outlined the benefits of the double-header, providing the perfect opportunity for Cifuentes to have another look at his team ahead of the Sky Bet Championship campaign beginning on 10 August.
The Syston-born defender added: “It’s going to be two 90-minute games for the majority of the players, so it’ll be good to get that in the legs and going into the last game next week (against Fiorentina) when we’re back. And then, before you know it, we’re into the season. It does fly by these six weeks, but we’ll be ready.
“Pre-season is important to get minutes in, but winning games is a key part of that to get the rhythm heading into the season. You always want to be getting off to good starts, even in pre-season, and we’ve won every game so far, so hopefully we can keep it going and move that into the season.”
