The Italian centre-back nodded Leicester City in front at Riverside Stadium after 17 minutes, although a close-range finish from Riley McGree levelled matters before half-time. Adding to the point at Stoke City on Saturday, Gary Rowett remains unbeaten as Foxes Manager, but he will be targeting all three next time out.
This result keeps us 22nd in the Championship table, inside the bottom three by one point, with Norwich City the visitors to King Power Stadium on Saturday.

A promising start
The Riverside was rocking at kick-off, with a large North East crowd hoping their side can end a decade’s long exile from the Premier League at the end of this season.
It was a tough assignment for Rowett’s visitors, who ended a five-game losing streak in all competitions last weekend, and the first half had its positive moments. While Asmir Begovic was required to beat Matt Targett’s early free-kick away, Boro were limited to half chances for much of the first half.
Seventeen minutes in, we were in front. Divine Mukasa’s inviting free-kick was nodded goalwards by Okoli, giving goalkeeper Sol Brynn no chance. Okoli fought to get in front of Luke Ayling and get his head on it, scoring his second City goal in front of the Foxes faithful, many making a 300-mile round trip to be in Middlesbrough.
Boro hit back
Luke Thomas
Kim Hellberg’s men, mind you, are firmly in the automatic promotion picture and they started to pose more of a threat as the interval loomed. First, Tommy Conway’s fierce, low delivery across goal had alarm bells ringing for Rowett's men, but nobody was there in the middle to convert.
It was Conway again who did the damage for the leveller as well, just seconds before the half-time whistle. His surge down the left channel gave him the room to square it for McGree in the six-yard box, galloping in to apply the finish.
It was a harsh end to the half for the Foxes, changing the complextion of the second period in Teesside. Leicester, though, held on for a point and will be disappointed they couldn't do more to get three. There were returning faces too, with Abdul Fatawu and Jordan Ayew eventually coming on after missing last weekend’s trip to Stoke.

Into the second half, when Luke Thomas’ forward ball bounced awkwardly, it evaded Ayling and freed Patson Daka to race onto it. The Zambian didn’t have long to get a header away, with reinforcements arriving quickly, as his effort bobbled wide, to the relief of Brynn who had committed off his line.
Later on, substitute Fatawu strived to locate Ayew at the back post, with the winger’s cross in fact nearly looping straight into the far corner of the net. From then onwards, midway through the second period, Boro began to crank up the pressure, eager to keep up the pace at the league’s summit.
David Strelec dragged wide, from Callum Britain’s low ball, before McGree also drilled the wrong side of Begovic’s post. The City 'keeper had to be alert, too, when McGree and Aidan Morris tested him in quick succession. A last-ditch block from Oliver Skipp, meanwhile, was essential to stop McGree snatching all the points at the very end. So, frustrated to lose that early lead, but having also battled to hold on, it's a point we take back to Leicester.
