We return to Sky Bet League One duties by heading to Stadium MK to take on Paul Warne’s Dons, after a 3-1 reverse at Premier League side Ipswich.

Although not the result nor the scoreline which we wanted at Portman Road, the performance gave the Blue Army reason for optimism, with Russell Martin’s men producing flowing football and creating several clear-cut opportunities.

Chaplin, who was making his competitive debut for the Club against his former side, wore the captain’s armband in Suffolk and was proud of the display. He now wants us to build on that and start to get points under our belts ahead of only our third game of the 26/27 league campaign.

“We know what we’re capable of,” he told us after Ipswich. “We don’t feel like we’ve shown that in the first two games in the league.

“We’re aware of that, definitely, but we train like that Monday to Friday. The level is really, really good. I get a feeling that hopefully, on Saturday, we can show ourselves again just like we did tonight.

“We don’t want to be a group of players, staff, or Football Club to enjoy any defeat at all, but I think there was a lot of things to be really excited about, to be proud about.

“Coming away to a Premier League side and dominating the game in the way we did, in the style we did, I think we were so brave the whole game.

“We had a lot of chances. We probably should have punished them more on the final action, the final pass, to get a good shot.

“That’s something we can go back on to improve definitely, but it’s the hardest part of the game. In terms of the way we played and the way we controlled the game, I thought we were really, really good.”

On the significance of captaining the Foxes in Ipswich, he added: “I’m incredibly proud. I guess it’s fitting that it was [at Ipswich] so that was nice.

“It’s obviously an honour to lead the boys out and fingers’ crossed we can keep going for Saturday and then onwards and we can keep improving.”
