Club captain Ricardo Pereira will depart Leicester City this summer
His final game will be at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon
The 32-year-old full-back has spent eight seasons as a Leicester City player
The 32-year-old has made 219 appearances for us since joining from Porto in his native Portugal in the summer of 2018 and has gone on to play important roles in some of our best moments over that period.
Ricardo said: “Tomorrow will be my last game as a Leicester City player and I could not let that happen without saying thank you. It has been eight years of highs and lows, and while it hurts to finish this way, I know I will look back with pride on the amazing moments we have shared.
“To the supporters, my team-mates, the staff and everyone at the Club, thank you for your support. I always tried to give my best, through the good times and the difficult moments. I will always follow Leicester and I hope I will see us back where we belong soon.”
Ricardo was part of the squads that won the 2021 Emirates FA Cup and the FA Community Shield later that same year. He has also found the net 15 times from right-back – none more memorable than the late UEFA Conference League Quarter-Final winner away at PSV Eindhoven in 2022.
The Portugal international also played a key role in helping the team win promotion to the Premier League in 2023/24 as Sky Bet Championship winners and will be remembered as one of the best right-backs ever to have represented our Club.
It’s not just on the field where Ricardo has represented the Football Club with distinction, but off the pitch too. He has given his time to support many causes that benefit people throughout Leicester and Leicestershire communities - a credit to Ricardo as a person as well as a footballer.
He leaves with the thanks, respect and admiration of everyone at this Football Club, as well as the best wishes for the next steps in his life and career.
